An early morning start for George, towing one packed trailer to Tees LDS. Glorious conditions greeted Hexham Rowing Club, sunny sky, warm temperatures and a slight ripple on the 5000m course.
Master’s Squad -Three masters women’s crews competed in age categories C, E and G. Catherine, Shor, Suzanne, Elizabeth raced Cambois and Tees. Some perfect steering by Elizabeth secured the win in WMas C/D 4X-. Julie, Christine, Lorraine, Kirsty competed in WMas E/F 4X- raced Tees and Durham, Durham were victors in that battle. Gill, Anne, Gillian, Sue competed in WMas G/H 4X- taking on Tees, with the Tees crew tackling the familiar corners and finishing ahead. Great to see so many masters ladies competing.

Hexham masters men crews comprised of Mas C 4X- Anthony, James, David, Andrew were competing with the handicap and grouped with C/F/G/I this meant they were up against a 3m 16s handicap against the World Masters I champions, a good performance and the fastest Hexham crew of the day. Stuart took on the the 5k on his own in Mas A 1X and was group A/D/E, great performance but the handicap was too big a target to beat.
Junior Squad – Some car troubles and a quick tyre change, meant some juniors arrived slightly behind schedule but with some team work and quick rigging, were quickly back in track.
Leo & Jude tacked the course in their speedy OpJ16 2X, posting a quick time but not quite enough to beat the Cambois duo. Seth and Dan competed in J18 1X (B2), each had very close times to the event winner and very solid performance.
The second win of the day came from WJ17 2X Kate and Olive, impressively beating their nearest competition by nearly a minute. Grace and Olivia tackled the course in the same event and put a really solid time. WJ4X- Esther, Bethan, Sophie, Sadie took on four other crews in their event, succumbing to a very quick George Herriots School.

Well done team Hexham in a great day, some amazing steering and performances on a twisty and energy sapping course. Full results available here
