Saturday 13th Dec saw our traditional ‘Pigs in Blankets’ festive social. The weather was mild and dry, the river was just row-able with wellies needed and Julia had carefully put us into mixed ability and squad Christmassy crews and had fun planned… first up was the water competition with coxed quads racing from the cottage, expertly started by Pam, zooming down to the finishing line at the landing stages. If not on the water, there was an erg rely challenge with the crews competing 2km as fast as they could – transitions were everything! It was great to see everyone cheering each other on.
When in need of something a little more relaxing than the adrenaline fuelled racing – there were raffle tickets to purchase for a beautiful chocolate cake and/or a fabulous hamper of goodies! Or you could have a go on ‘name the elf’ – all fundraising opportunities for our super junior squad.
Whilst all this was going on, Suzy, George and Hettie were hard at work preparing a wonderful array of food and drinks for us to enjoy… there was BBQed pigs in blankets with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce served in a bun, followed by mince pies, deliciously flushed down with mulled wine or warm spiced apple juice – absolutely amazing – thanks so much!
