Sunday League at Durham Oct 2024

The Hexmixers travelled to Durham for the last of the 2024 Sunday League fixtures on 6 October. On a sunny afternoon, the biggest turnout of the season saw 11 mixed and 5 women’s crew racing on the River Wear.

The Hexmixers managed one win and two seconds, although we like to think that if we hadn’t had an unfortunate unseating issue at the beginning of the first race, we might have won that one too!

At the end of the afternoon, prizes were awarded and, although we didn’t top the tables, we did take away the prize for ‘Best turned out crew’!

As always, the Sunday League racing has been great fun, giving new rowers a chance to try out racing and all of us a chance to find out about rowing on different rivers, and the sea, around the region. Thank you to Kirsty for organising the Hexham crews this year and to Colin P for organising the various events throughout the season. We’ve really enjoyed visiting the various clubs, thank you to the host clubs for their hospitality throughout the 2024 season.

Plans will be underway for the 2025 season soon, with organisers keen to have sweep and skills sessions again.  We are looking forward to next years’ event, where we look forward to our new rowers flying the Hexham flag.
