Friday 13th is unlucky for some but not for the Talkin Tarn Reci Rowers who rowed with the development squad this week.
They enjoyed a beautiful sunny but slightly chilly morning with excellent river conditions, enabling three quads to go out. Rowing in fine boats on a river with flow was a different experience for the Tarn rowers but everyone managed really well and were surprised that they covered over 8km in distance. A race between the three crews finished up the session, with a very pleased John Y who was in the winning boat. After the boats had been cleaned and stored away, Rob led us all through one of his warm-down stretching sessions.
Then everyone was ready for the wonderful spread, we were even able to eat al fresco! Many thanks to Jill and Gill for acting as the kitchen hosts, to the Hexham Dev squad for making the food and to Rob for organising the morning. The Tarn rowers were very appreciative of the opportunity and can’t wait to invite Hexham back for reciprocal event.
