Our last news item was quite a while ago, so thought it time for a quick update on what we’ve been up to!
The weather hasn’t been quite on our side recently with Ponteland Junior Head cancelled due to the wind and the first Sunday League event of 2024 in Berwick sadly postponed due to flood water and wind that was scheduled for tomorrow (7th April)…
We have managed to get out on the river though between wind and rain, or sometimes in the rain…
Adult coached sessions have started and going well, we have tried to hold two Adult taster sessions, but they’ve been postponed, fingers crossed third time lucky! Two members travelled down to London for Vesta International Veterans Head in London to race in a composite eight which whizzed down the course in 6th place out of a strong field of 21 crews in their age category.
The juniors have been busy training for JIRR in Nottingham and events beyond this, and found time to do some fund raising over the Easter weekend with a bag pack at a local supermarket to gather funds for attending events later in the year.
Next stop – (hopefully) an adult learn to taster session followed by the learn to row course, JIRR, a club social and then regattas here we come!
