The ice breakers (quite literally!) were out for the last event of 2023 – Rutherford Head on a very, very cold morning!
Hexham had a number of members in the first division, an OpMasC.4x-, a OpMasE.4- composite with Durham ARC, a WJ16.4x-(b1), Jonty joined the QEHS OJ18.8+ and unfortunately Rob and John didn’t make it to the start with their TURC crewmates having had issues with a frozen steering system!
We had three Hexham quads in the second division, a OJ18.4x-(b1), a OJ16.4x-(b1) and a WMasB.4x-.
All the crews did a fantastic job, the water was beautifully still, but there were challenges to keep warm and weaving in and out of the busy traffic.
Having thawed out, we can say we had a super day at Newburn. Thank you to the TyneARC organizers, our supporters braving the cold and our trailer drivers!
