Hexham members joined forces with North Eastern clubs to attend Henley Masters Regatta 2023.
The dress codes of Royal Henley is absent, but the buzz and excitement from supporters, racing between the booms, a chance to race International crews and to ride on the Umpire’s launches were all there! The 1km course starts just below Temple Island and finishes at Upper Thames Rowing Club.
Taking place on 7th and 8th July 2023, Kevin raced in the OMasE.8+ with members from Durham ARC, Tyne ARC and Talkin Tarn RC (with Elizabeth coxing) and Catherine and Elizabeth joined forces with Berwick RC to form a WMasB.4x-. Both boats sailed through the semi-finals (the quad spurred on with rumbles of thunder and the odd flash of lightening overhead)!
Two Henley finals raced in a few hours of each other resulted in two hard-fought second places. We left with super memories of a great weekend spent with crew mates. Thanks to Ben and Stuart for their support!
