A contingent of crews made their way up to Strathclyde Park for the annual Scottish Rowing Spring Regatta on 22nd & 23rd April 2023 raced over 1km (for masters) and 2km (for Open Seniors).
The conditions on the Saturday were much to be desired, with strong winds and big waves in the middle of the lake making for very difficult rowing conditions throughout the day. Catherine was entered in both a composite masters four and a double alongside members from Berwick Rowing club, battling against the weather and waves to finish a sterling 2nd in both events. Stuart surfed the waves in a single and also finished second. To keep the silver theme, the masters mens quad of Simon, David, Andrew and Stuart also finished second (image with silver medals!).
On the Sunday, Rob and John were in their double against some strong Scottish competition. To end the weekend, a mixed quad of Christine, Hannah, Andrew and Stuart had more favourable conditions and were up against a full line-up of open and Scottish SS champs crews racing the full 2km course. They put in a great performance and managed to keep composed throughout the whole race, although could not hold onto the pack of Scottish champs and more experienced open quads and finished at the back of the field, but all enjoyed the experience and row and set some good splits down the course.
Thanks to the trailer drivers.
