With the onset of colder weather it is very important that all athletes come prepared with the appropriate kit.
This should include as a minimum:
- Warm hat
- Wellies (for boating)
- Socks
- Thermal leggings, can be worn under one piece
- Thermal tops, long sleeve
- Splash top and or Gilet
- Spare dry, warm clothes in case of any capsize or poor weather conditions during training
- Towel and shower kit
- Clean, dry trainers for indoor work and also if needed after a capsize
EVEN THOUGH IT IS WINTER ALWAYS BRING A DRINKS BOTTLE – YOU STILL SWEAT WHEN IT IS COLD - AND SUNGLASSES
Remember kit should fit snugly to prevent it getting caught in the slides. In addition it is advisable to dress in several thin layers so that outer garments can be removed during training and can be put back on if conditions dictate.
Good rowing sites to look for kit are:

In addition good quality alternatives can be found in local cycling shops, JJB sports shops and even sports sections of Tesco and ASDA.
Finally, coaches reserve the right to prevent inappropriately dressed athletes from participating in water based sessions. If unsure or you have any questions please see the junior co-ordinator or any of the coaches.
